The field of immigration can be very complex.  It is unfortunately common for people to say that they hired a non-attorney (i.e. paralegal or document processing center) who they felt could help them.  They later find out that they received poor advice and that if they had hired an attorney, they would not have fallen into the predicament that they are now in.  They also discover that a lot of the time, an attorney charges the same or LESS than the non-attorney.
